To measure the CO2 of nonincubated and intubated patients, a Sidestream sampling system with a 50 ml/minute low sampling rate is being used. Its unique design provides a faster response with less number of mistakes. Both the maintenance requirements and overall cost‐of‐ownership are reduced, as the analyzer portion of the sensor cannot be tarnished with patient secretions. It is a kit which is easy to use, affordable, durable and reliable for the long-term ventilator patients. They are economical and easily disposable. The patient monitoring systems is easily configured with state‐of‐the‐art CO2 monitoring technology, by interchanging the CO2 Module with the Capnostat 5 CO2 Mainstream Sensor.
