The Keypad Assembly consists of a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and an overlay. The keypad overlay is made of an elastomer rubber material .The keypad overlay contains four buttons and a hole for the ComWheel on the right. The keypad PCA contains four buttons and a hole for mounting an optical encoder, referred as the ComWheel. The ComWheel and buttons are backlit using LEDs. The design life of the keypad assembly is a minimum of 10 years. The designs life requires twice daily cleaning with cleaning solvents and minimal exposure to abusive and incidental chemicals. This keypad is being used in the Tuscany Halo Display Unit. Some of the other applications are XR Optima XR220amx, ARC Aisys and ARC Avance CS2 etc. The keypad markings will not become illegible, crack or peel when subjected to cleaning solvents, validated by performing 100 double rub tests. It has the reliability of 99% under the environmental conditions of 21° C ± 5° C, 55% RH ± 40%. The keypad assembly shall provide ESD protection per IEC60601-1-2:2007, levels up to ± 6kV contact discharge & ± 8kV air discharge. The keypad shall not crack, peel, swell, or become dis-bonded when subjected to system operating temperature and ambient humidity.
