The Giraffe™ Incubator provides an enclosed apparatus for premature babies by ensuring a controlled and protective environment for their care. It combines a modern microprocessor control with effective thermal performance and features like doors that allow access from either side, highly visible displays, controls that can be accessed from both sides of the incubator, and a larger bed surface with a rotating mattress option. The porthole is used for routing a ventilator tube into incubator. An oscillator port cover is used to close the port when a tubing of a ventilator or an oscillator is routed through it. If no tubing is routed, the port cover is removed and the porthole door is closed. The porthole is opened by pressing on the latch. The cover swings open. The latch holds the cover securely shut and cover seals tightly against the porthole when porthole is closed. The porthole latch assembly includes porthole latch cover, porthole latch spring, O-ring, porthole latch base, Delrin® washer and a screw M4 x 12. The assembly compresses freely when load is applied and returns to fully extended position when load is released. The assembly is highly durable and can endure temperature changes inside the incubator.
