A main function of this Power Management Board (PMB) is to process the power received from an off the shelf alternating current/direct current (AC-DC) converter to the anesthesia system and provide battery backup in case the AC main fails. It consists of an intelligent microcontroller for monitoring the AC mains failure, output voltage and also controls the battery charging algorithm. In addition, the board includes an on-board battery charger through which batteries are charged if an AC main fails or AC/DC converter failure, the PMB then switches over to battery backup. This Power Management Board can be used with Carestation 600 Series Anesthesia machines.
