The Seal U-cup is used in the bellows assembly of the anesthesia delivery system. The part should be clean, which is free of grease, oil, mold release, dust, lint or other obvious contamination. U-cups are a lip seal, that has a cross-section that is a “U” shape. The system pressure increases, the force on the loading lips automatically compensates for the higher pressure, thus maintaining a positive seal. This type of seal has approximately 1.5 times the axial depth of the square profile and which greatly adds to the stability at higher pressures. It can be widely used to replace existing hydraulic packing and O-rings without changing gland design. There are multiple types of lip seals that are available, the most popular lip seals are standard U-Cup, deep U-Cup or beveled lip U-Cup (B-Type U-Cup). The standard U-Cup has the same cross section and height value. The deep U-Cup has a height greater than the cross section. The beveled lip, or B-type U-cup has a bevel lip as the name states. Loaded B-type symmetrical U-Cups are a very versatile.
