The O-ring is used to prevent the leakage of vapors from Breathing Circuit Gas (BCG) in an anesthesia delivery machine. A common cause of vapor leakage is the absence of or a damaged O-ring. It is the most common type of seal used in a wide range of static or dynamic applications. It is seated in a groove and it is compressed between two or more parts to create an excellent seal. It is generally made of rubber due to which it returns to its original shape on compression.
