The PartsSource Educational Partnership will help…

How does the PartsSource Educational Partnership work?

PartsSource now offers a growing catalog of biomedical, technical, imaging, and medical DVD’s for healthcare service professionals – from introductory to more advanced levels. Educational DVD’s can be purchased outright with a credit card. DVD’s can also be obtained utilizing the PartsSource Preferred Program.

Why did PartsSource choose DVD’s for the Educational Partnership?

DVD’s allow you to choose the time and place to learn instead of someone else -- you make the call. With this format, personal and job interruptions can be easily managed: just turn-off the DVD player until you are ready to begin again.

Scheduled network cable or satellite classes are just that – scheduled. This defeats one of the hallmarks of the Educational Partnership - convenience for our customers. Streaming video is convenient but not everyone has access to the technology. But just about everyone has access to a DVD player.

Is certification important for healthcare service professionals?

Only you can answer that question but many technicians, and even some employers, have answered that question “yes”. Certification has its benefits. According to a recent survey conducted by an industry magazine, 24x7*, certified technologists earned an average of 12% more than non-certified technologists. Certification might also be a personal and professional goal for you. It represents a level of knowledge and achievement in the technical community. It may not be necessary for your current position but perhaps it will be required for a future position or more senior position.

All technologists are encouraged to visit the Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) at www.aami.org to learn more about certification, the different certifications available (including CBET, CRES, and CLES), and obtain advice to prepare for certification.

Can Educational Partnership DVD’s be used for certification? Can they be used to renew certification? Can they be used for accreditation or pursuing a degree?

Many of the Educational Partnership DVD’s are appropriate for preparing for certification as part of a complete preparation program as defined by the Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) or other certification agencies. All technologists are encouraged to visit AAMI at www.aami.org to learn more about certification, the different certifications available (including CBET, CRES, and CLES), and obtain advice to prepare for certification and test-taking.

Additionally, Educational Partnership DVD’s are suitable for continuing education activities required by certification agencies for certification renewal. Generally, technologists must demonstrate that they have achieved a certain level of continuing education points in a given period of time. Contact your certification agency to check for regulations regarding the accumulation of continuing education points and demonstration of proof of continuing education.

Per AAMI guidelines, a technician may receive up to 10 points for Self-Study activities per renewal cycle. AAMI allows for significantly more continuing education points for academic/vocational courses at a university or college. Some of the DVD training courses have been approved for CEU’s (continuing education units) and are accredited. Achievement of CEU’s and accreditation involves a small charge for on-line testing.
